olympic games y5

Posted by: y5zac | November 24, 2009 | 1 Comment |

Recently Year 5 had our own olympic games, I came 2nd in wrestling .  The other events were very exciting, we competed in the javelin, discus, long jump, sprint, dokhlitos (distance race) and the hoplitodromos (racing in armour). The children were split into cities: Corinth, Olympia, Sparta and Athens and at the end we were presented with olive wreathes by mighty Zeus himself (aka Mr Cozens). It was lots of fun at our own olympic games.

In Mrs Burch’s class the pupils drew themselves and painted it, then put it on the wall. We clearly have some talented artists in our foundation class!

Yr5 have been reading an exciting book called ‘Stig of the dump’. The book is about a boy named Barney, who finds a caveman in an abandoned chalk pit and they become friends and they make a homemade chimney, save Barney’s house from being robbed and bring a leopard back to the circus!

Please leave a comment about the book, (children and adults) All comments will get 1 house point and the best comment gets 5hp! This will be judged by Mr Cozens and Henry.

The Space Odyssey Dome at Mary Deans

Posted by: y5zac | October 7, 2009 | 3 Comments |

Last week the Juniors went down to the hall to go to the space odssey dome, we learned about the stars and planets.

Did you know it might be possible to live on the moon? There are lots of questions about space, for example ‘ How many stars are there in the Milky Way?’  and I hope  you can answer them. When I was in there it felt amazing .

The Beaford Trip

Posted by: devony5 | June 30, 2009 | 1 Comment |

On the 1st June some year 5s went to Beaford for a residential trip.

What a tiring journey! When we got there we all had to meet in the music room, Mr Frake introduced us to the  housekeeper Annette she was really nice, then she took the boys to there room, then the girls. We then had to do our beds which was very easy. We all got to talk about the journey, then we had to go down to the common room and discuss who was in what group for the meals. The food was delicious and was all homemade!  At 8:00pm we had a shower and got ready for bed. Tuesday was the best day, we did rag rug making and circus skills, we went to the local park and some of us played footy. On Wednesday we had to go,we all had a brill time and would love to have stayed there for longer.

Year 6’s Project On World War 2

Posted by: ncozens | June 23, 2009 | 14 Comments |

At the begining of the summer term we started a project on World war 2. It has been really good learning about how people felt, how they lived, what they ate and how they fought. We have found out what war has brought out of people, many people responded bravely and proudly. We’ve brought in loads of resources like photos, bullets, books and artefacts.

50p trail for new computers

Posted by: ncozens | June 16, 2009 | 4 Comments |

Completed trailOn the 9th June we layed out a big banner in the hall that spelt COMPUTERS. What we did was ask people to bring in a 50p coin and lay it on the letters of COMPUTERS. We wanted to raise £1000 to be able to finish the computer suite with the other three computers to make a total purchased of 21, so we are aiming to do this before the end of the summer term. With all the 50p we raised £112.
